The Florida State University
World Affairs Program
The World Affairs Program is an academic debate team within the College of Social Science and Public Policy at Florida State University that works with students from across the university to engage in debate competitions across the United States. The World Affairs Program brings students the opportunity to engage in a socially rich organization that provides training in negotiation and debate strategies and engage with experts on topical global affairs issues.
WELCOME!
The World Affairs Program is an organization that facilitates students’ engagement with international affairs through weekly discussions, annual speakership series, as well as organized debate trainings.
The World Affairs Program hosts Florida State University’s Model United Nations team, which is currently in the Top 10 programs in the international team rankings. We also publish the WAP Journal to give students the opportunity to write and publish articles on international affairs topics.
The program boasts a vibrant mentor-mentee program, a dedicated alumni organization, and a variety of alumni networking opportunities to help students explore career paths, make connections, and get advice to help create a flourishing post-graduate life. The World Affairs Program is more than just a debate team, but a home for students looking to grow, develop, and connect with a group of engaged peers and alumni.
The Florida State University World Affairs Program is proud to be a hub for student-based world affairs programming and an internationally ranked Model United Nations team, we field a successful team of General Assembly and Crisis Simulation delegates each year.
